Near holiday park Het Timmerholt there are several areas for dogs to run free.
Approximately 10 kilometres from our park you will find Boswachterij Schoonloo/Ellertshaar. This forest is part of the Hart van Drenthe nature reserve. Dogs are allowed to run free here all year round (maximum 3 dogs per handler), and there is also a swimming pool where dogs can swim. A lap around the entire area is a mere two hours' walk, making it a wonderful walk for you and your dog's holiday in our beautiful province.
At the intersection of Ossebroek - Sportlaan in Beilen is the Dog Playground Midden-Drenthe. This is also about 10 kilometres away from Vakantiepark Het Timmerholt. The dog playground is always open. There is a 1.80 m high fence around the playground, allowing dogs to play safely. There are also various sports and play equipment and a real dog pool. The entrance fee to the dog play area is €1 per dog. This is used to maintain the playground by volunteers and to pay for the lease of the land.
In the southern and northeastern part of Boswachterij Sleenerzand, dogs are allowed to run free all year round, provided they are kept under guard. This nature reserve contains both forest and drift sand areas. You will find the entrance to this area at car park Kibbelveen on the N376 between Sleen and Schoonoord. The blue walking route, starting from the car park, goes through off-leash areas almost everywhere.
